It is easy to see rock art figures on boulders near the road as you travel south from Gunlock Reservoir. I've been told there are more impressive figures on sandstone panels nearby, but I have yet to find them. I've also been told there are two caves in the backcountry west of Gunlock where you can see significant images. I'll be hunting them down soon.

I went back 1-14-14 and found more rock art on top of a small hill west of the paved road. Note, in the first row of photos below the images are carved into the rock and are covered by patina. That is a clue they are older. The images in the bottom row look like they were lightly pecked onto the rock surface and they are not covered by as much patina. That indicates they are newer and the artist did not take as much time or care when creating the artwork.
