Keep More Trout at Two Waters

Starting July 20, you can keep up to eight trout a day at two waters in eastern Utah:

  • Drought conditions will require Kens Lake in San Juan County to be drained to a very low level.

Rainbow trout that have been stocked in the lake will probably be lost when the water level decreases. The trout limit has been raised from four trout to eight trout to allow anglers to take fish before they’re lost.

For more information, call the DWR’s Southeastern Region office at (435) 613-3700.

  • The Middle Fork Sheep Creek drainage in the Uinta Mountains, including Spirit Lake, will be treated with rotenone in September. The trout limit has been raised from four trout to eight trout to allow anglers to take fish that will be lost when the lake is treated.

Spirit Lake is in Daggett County.

For more information, call the DWR’s Northeastern Region office at (435) 781-9453.
