free fishing dayNo fishing license? No problem on June 10, 2017, Utah’s Free Fishing Day. It’s the perfect day for beginners to try the sport out, anglers who haven’t picked up their poles in a while, or to bring a friend or family member along who doesn’t have a license.

June 10 is a good time to fish, the water is warming, insects are spawning, and fish are biting. Be prepared to follow regular fishing guidelines on catch and release and other matters. Stay up-to-date on fishing conditions on the DWR’s fishing reports, or on UtahWildlife.net.

If you want easier fishing, try a stocked community pond or reservoir, like Mantua Reservoir or Strawberry Reservoir. If you want more of a challenge and to get away from the crowds, try some of Utah’s lesser-visited waters, like Lost Creek Reservoir, Flaming Gorge Reservoir, or Navajo Lake.

Across the state, several free fishing events will be held. A limited amount of equipment can be checked out and borrowed at these events. Check out some of these events near you:
