Officials have provided details about 5 options being considered to completely close a 1.5 mile stretchy of the Provo River above Utah Lake.
All of the proposals would totally dry up the river in that area. The water would be channeled north into a marshland delta. The intent is to improve habitat for the endangered June sucker.
At a public meeting yesterday, hundreds showed up to protest the plan. Only about 100 people fit into the meeting room. Others stood outside or were turned away.
The Provo Herald has this article about the proposals.
