Green River may have hazardous conditions below Flaming Gorge, but offers good nymph and streamer fishing. Water levels may fluctuate between 800 cfs and 2400 cfs within short periods because of power generation needs, and that may cause problems for people wading. Trout Creek flies offers current info.

Huntington and Cleveland continue to be hazardous because of air pockets under the ice.

Bear Lake's cisco run is over. Cutthroat and lake trout fishing is very slow right now because there is so much food in the water, but will improve dramatically over the next few weeks. Water levels in the lake are lower than last year but anglers can launch all sizes of boats from the Utah State Park marina. Smaller boats can be launched off the shore at Gus Rich Point and Cisco Beach.

Red Fleet Reservoir has fast fishing for 12-14 inch rainbows, and a few bigger fish. Tom Pettengill, DWR Sports Fishing Coordinator, said his group caught trout all over the reservoir while trying - and failing - to catch bluegill. "Most of us used small ice flies below a Kastmaster. The small ice fly was tipped with either a wax worm or a piece of night crawler. We usually fished close to the bottom but at times trout were hitting right under the ice or mid-depth. This would be a great place for families. The fishing was fast and lots of fun. If you missed a bite the fish usually kept biting until it was hooked or got your bait."

Lost Creek is good for small rainbows, with an occasional larger rainbow or cutthroat.

Scofield is spotty. Get away from the crowds and you can often find good fishing. Brightly colored jigs tipped with wax worms or nightcrawlers have worked well. Get out early and pay attention so you can detect light bites.

Pineview is generally good for perch but you've got to move around until you find the fish. A Rat Finkee tipped with bait is usually productive.

Fish Lake action has slowed a bit but is still considered good for rainbows and splake, very good for perch and spotty for lake trout.

Strawberry is generally fair but can be good if you get out early, hike away from the access points and pay attention so you can detect soft hits.

Deer Creek now has some ice and anglers report fair fishing for trout and large perch.

Causey has solid ice and fair fishing for rainbows and splake. Move around until you find the fish.

Joes Valley has good ice fishing for splake. Use caution because the water is being drawn down and ice could become unsafe any time now. Otter Creek has safe ice and good fishing for nice rainbows.

Otter Creek RV and Marine is open this winter and can provide current info: 1-800-441-3292. They operate a campground, 2 motel units, a café and a store, plus a private marina on the lake.

East Canyon may now have some safe ice, along with some open water. Test it carefully.

Panguitch Lake has solid ice but fishing has been fair to slow.

Mantua, Hyrum and Newton have unsafe ice.

Jordanelle has some unsafe ice and some open water. Ice covers the lake overnight but some melts during the day. Boat ramps are often icy.

Minersville has unsafe ice.

Lake Powell striper fishing is spotty near Hite. Find an active school and action can be good. Marty Peterson gave DWR a great report. Walleye fishing has been good near Hite. Read the report by DWR Biologist Wayne Gustaveson.
