snow canyon family hikingSt George Area Hiking

Here are some of our favorite St. George area hikes. See below for a list of all of our articles. Note: spring and fall are ideal times to hike in the St. George area. Many winter days are mild and hiking is pleasant, just watch the weather. Summers are hot. We hike early in the day but exertion is not recommended during the afternoon heat.

Snow Canyon is the premier hiking destination. Snow Canyon developed and marked trails are great for families. Here's an article with first-person insights and hiking tips for families. We enjoy getting off the trail and exploring rugged canyons in the park, particularly on the east side. We've found some great rock art on the east side of Snow Canyon.

Red Cliffs Recreation Area offers a fun short hike suitable for families.

The Sand Cove area off Babylon Road has a fun hike down to a small but scenic arch. It is fun just wandering in that area.

Also, see our map showing free undeveloped camping areas in the St George/Zion Park area.
