Officials have provided details about 5 options being considered to completely close a 1.5 mile stretchy of the Provo River above Utah Lake.

All of the proposals would totally dry up the river in that area. The water would be channeled north into a marshland delta. The intent is to improve habitat for the endangered June sucker.

At a public meeting yesterday, hundreds showed up to protest the plan. Only about 100 people fit into the meeting room. Others stood outside or were turned away.
