American Fork Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow. Walleye run up the river to spawn and some remain in the lower reaches of the river. No access problems. Forest Service campgrounds in area. Gets lots of local pressure. West of I-15 closed during the walleye spawn. Check the proclamation for special regulations.

Anderson Meadow Reservoir - Contains rainbow and brook trout. Travel 18 miles east of Beaver on U-153. Take the Kents Lake road. Elevation 9,000 feet. Camping nearby. Drinking water, chemical toilets, permanent tables and grills. Trailers permitted.

Antimony Creek - Contains rainbow, brown trout. Take the dirt road just south of the town of Antimony. The road pretty much follows the stream. Best fishing is in the spring shortly after the run-off dies down. Small stream with only primitive camping.

Antimony Lakes - Contain cutthroat and brook trout. Follow Antimony Creek out of Antimony and then climb the mountain. Four wheel drive only. Primitive camping.

Asay Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Some private land in lower reaches. Camping nearby.

Ash Creek Reservoir - Contains no sports fish. Almost dries up each year and cannot sustain a population of fish.

Ashley Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Artificial flies and lures only. Trout limit 2.

Aspen-Mirror Lake - Contains rainbow trout. Closed during winter and early spring. This small lake is near Navajo Lake on Cedar Mountain. Closed January 1 through April 24. Trout limit 4.

Baker Reservoir - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Located between Central and Veyo, west of St. George, one mile east of U-18 on the Santa Clara River. Small Bureau of Land Management campground. No boat ramp.

Barker Lake - Contains brook and rainbow trout. Take Highway 12 to Escalante. Go 12 miles north. Camping nearby. No boat ramp.

Bear Lake - Contains lake trout (mackinaw), cutthroat and rainbow trout; Bonneville cisco; Bonneville and Bear Lake whitefish. Stocked with fingerling cutthroat and lake trout. Elevation 5,990 feet. Near Garden City via U.S. 89 and Logan or follow Utah highways 16 and 30 north from Evanston, Wyoming. Road goes north from Laketown around the east shore. Two state parks, campgrounds, boat ramp, picnic areas, motels, cafes and boat rentals. Often very good for cutthroats during the winter and spring, with some fish up to about eight pounds. Cisco netting is popular about mid-January. The lake trout also get big, 20 to 30 pounds. Check the proclamation for special regulations.

Bear River - Contains rainbow, cutthroat and brook trout and Rocky Mountain whitefish in Summit County; brown and rainbow trout, whitefish, carp and suckers in Rich County; channel catfish, walleye, largemouth bass, yellow perch, green sunfish, whitefish, black bullheads, and crappie in Cache and Box Elder counties. Runs through Idaho, into Utah near the town of Cornish, south into Cutler Reservoir, southwest and east of Tremonton through Bear River City to the Great Salt Lake. Various facilities are available in the nearby towns. From Corinne to the Great Salt Lake the river is fished heavily for catfish that run up to 30 pounds. Use standard catfish baits and fish right on the bottom. Almost all private ground. Landowners will keep it open as long as the place isn't trashed and respect is shown for the property.

Beaver Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Access out of the towns of Peoa and Kamas on SR 150. Beautiful small stream that contains some nice fish.

Beaver River - Contains rainbow and brown trout. There are two stretches that contain large numbers of fish. One is above the town of Beaver along Highway 153 and the other is west of Beaver below Minersville Reservoir. Portions are closed during the winter - check the regs.

Big Cottonwood Creek - Contains rainbow, brook and brown trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow. No access problems. Camping in area.

Big Sandwash - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Stocked with fingerling rainbow. Lots of crayfish. Elevation is 5,900 feet. Located northeast of Duchesne. Take Highway 40 ten miles east of Duchesne, turn north through Bridgeland, go about 12 miles to the reservoir or take Highway 87 north of Duchesne about 34 miles. Has a boat ramp and primitive camping.

Big Spring Creek - Contains cutthroat trout. Tributary to Bear Lake. Check the special regulations.

Birch Creek Reservoir - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. Elevation is 7,000 feet. Located about 60 miles east of Ogden on U-39 and 10 miles west of Woodruff. BLM campground. No boat launching facilities.

Black Fork River - Contains brook, rainbow trout. North slope of Uintas. Access through Wyoming.

Blacksmith Fork River - Contains brook, cutthroat, brown, rainbow trout; whitefish. Take U-101 east of Hyrum (south of Logan) up Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Forest Service campgrounds. Some access problems, mostly private land.

Blanding Reservoir #3 and #4 - Contains rainbow trout. Stocked with catchables each spring. By mid-summer fishing slows down and doesn't usually become good again until fall. Fishing from boats is unlawful; float tubes are ok.

Blind Lake - Contains brook, rainbow trout, splake. Access on about 10 miles of dirt road (very rough) and then 1 1/2 mile hike, off of highway 12 in the Boulder Mountains. Record sized splake are caught here. No boats with motors.

Blue Lake - Contains largemouth bass, bluegill. U.S. 40 (I-80) west to Wendover, Alt. 93 into Nevada until south of the military reservation (about 20 miles) then east on unpaved road to Salt Springs and Blue Lake. Warm springs keep it from freezing. Fishing is good year round.

Bottle Hollow Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout. On Ute tribal lands. Requires a special fishing license that can be obtained at Bottle Hollow.

Boulder Mountain lakes - See the Boulder Mountain map published by Utah Fishing and Outdoors Magazine for locations and information about the 80 lakes in the Boulder Mountain area: 1-800-366-8824. Trout limit 6 with only two over 13 inches.

Bowns Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout. Stocked with fingerlings. No boat ramp. Fishing is generally good and pressure is light. Access on a dirt road off Highway 12, on the edge of the Boulder Mountains. Primitive camping in area.

Brush Creek - Contains rainbow, brook and brown trout. Excellent small steam. Access out of Vernal on south slope of Uinta Mountains.

Brough Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout and smallmouth bass. Stocked with fingerling rainbow. Elevation is 5,000 feet. Follow Highway 40 east of Roosevelt (west of Vernal) to Highway 88 turnoff. Go 4 1/2 miles south on Highway 88, reservoir is 1/2 mile west of the road. No facilities. This lake contains some good size rainbows.

Browne Lake - Contains rainbow and brook trout; kokanee salmon. Stocked with catchable rainbow and fingerling brook trout. Has a boat ramp. No access problems. While at the lake, fish Carter Creek. It contains rainbow, cutthroat and brook trout. Often good late in the summer.

Bullock Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout and largemouth bass. Elevation is 5,200 feet. Follow Highway 40 east of Roosevelt about one mile past Bottle Hollow, turn north and follow the road about 4 miles. No facilities. Crayfish are abundant.

Burraston Ponds - Stocked with catchable rainbow. Located west of Mona (north of Nephi) at the south end of Mona Reservoir. Limited number of camping turnouts. No boats with motors allowed. Receives heavy pressure.

Calder Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout. Elevation 7,100 feet Take Highway 44 north of Vernal to Diamond Mountain Road. Take this graded road about 18 miles east. Trout limit 4.

Causey Reservoir - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout, splake and kokanee. Limited boat accessÐboats must be carried down a steep slope and hand-launched. No boat ramp, no camping. Tributaries closed through early summer. Jan. 1 - May 22, trout limit 4.

Chalk Creek - Contains rainbow, brown trout. Mostly all private land and managed by fishing clubs. Little public access.

Cleveland Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout. Elevation 8,800 feet. Take U-10 south of Price, then go west from Huntington along U-31, or east from Fairview on U-31. No boat ramp. Primitive camping. Stocked with catchable trout.

Colorado River - Channel catfish, carp; threatened and endangered species are also found here. Access is available at various spots from Highway 128 north of Moab and Highway 279 south of Moab. Various facilities are available in the area. Closed to the taking of non-game fish, except that carp may be taken by angling, archery or spear-fishing equipment.

Corn Creek - Contains brown and rainbow trout. Located just southeast of Kanosh.

Cottonwood Creek - East of Salt Lake Valley. Mostly small rainbows. Camping in area.

Cottonwood Creek - Contains brown trout. Some access problems with steep banks. Some walk-in areas. Camping at Joes Valley Reservoir. Beautiful stream below Joes Valley Reservoir, near Castledale.

Cottonwood Canyons lakes - Contain brook, cutthroat and rainbow trout. Great places to explore close to the Wasatch Front. Beautiful area.

Cottonwood Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout and largemouth bass. Managed as a warm water fishery. No boat ramp. Bass limit 6 and only 1 over 12 inches.

Crouse Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout. Elevation is 7,100 feet. Take Highway 44 north of Vernal to Diamond Mountain Road. Take this graded road east about 20 miles. Calder Reservoir is about 1.5 miles west of this water. No boat ramp. Trout limit 4.

Currant Creek - Contains brown, cutthroat and rainbow trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow. Camping in area. Special regulations on the upper section.

Currant Creek Reservoir - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. Has a paved boat ramp. Very nice campground. Receives heavy pressure.

Cutler Reservoir - Contains largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, walleye and a few perch. Access on highway 23 between Newton and Junction.

Deer Creek Reservoir - Contains rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout; a few perch; good smallmouth bass fishing and walleye. Elevation is 5,500 feet. Five miles southwest of Heber City via U.S. 189 or northeast of Orem through Provo Canyon (U.S. 189). State park, boat ramp, campgrounds, boat rentals, paved parking areas, showers, sewage dump, fish cleaning stations. This is a heavily used water with lots of water skiing and sailboat use.

Daniels Creek - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow. 10% private land. Camping limited to turnouts near Highway 40.

Diamond Fork River - Contains brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow. From Springville Crossing to the headwaters, artificial flies and lures only. Closed to the possession of cutthroat trout. All other trout species limit 8. Several campgrounds in the area.

Dirty Devil River - As the name implies, this river is so muddy and flows are so rapid in the spring and early summer that it contains few fish.

DMAD Reservoir - Contains walleye, catfish, bass, carp. On the Sevier River just north of Delta.

Dry Fork - Contains brook and cutthroat trout. Flows off the south slope of the Uintas. It can be accessed near Paradise Park Reservoir in its upper reaches.

Duchesne River - Contains rainbow, brown, cutthroat and brook trout; whitefish. Access via U.S. 40 and U-35 near Duchesne. Mostly private or Indian lands. Camping in the area. The West Fork is managed as a wild trout stream. Contains cutthroat and brown trout. Special regulations on the West Fork. North Fork contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. It is stocked with catchable rainbow. Heavy spring runoff can be expected.

East Canyon Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Mostly private land, limited access. Portions are closed during the winter months.

East Canyon Reservoir - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Stocked with fingerlings. Elevation is 5,674 feet. Along U-66 about 10 miles south of Morgan or about 40 miles east and north of Salt Lake City via 1-80 (Parley's Canyon) to U-65 turnoff, then north to East Canyon. State park, boat ramp, campground, showers. Popular ice fishing lake. Shore fishing slows down in the summer - fish early or late for best results from shore. Jan 1-May 22, trout limit 4.

East Park Reservoir - Contains rainbow and brook trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow and fingerling brook trout. Has a boat ramp and camping.

Echo Reservoir - Contains rainbow and brown trout; channel catfish. Stocked with catchables in the fall. Elevation is 5,500 feet. Take I-80 from Salt Lake or I-84 from Ogden to Coalville. Resort, camping, picnicking. Private boat ramp. Limited foot access. Heavy water skier use.

Echo Canyon Creek - Contains brown and rainbow trout. Access off of I-80. This stream has been altered by the placement of I-80 and consequently contains limited numbers of fish. It also silts up easily after storms.

Electric Lake - Contains cutthroat trout. Elevation near 9,000 feet. Northwest of Huntington or east of Fairview via U-31. Boat ramp. Forest service campgrounds in area. Some shoreline access by walking. Trout limit 4. All trout over 12 inches must be immediately released. Artificial flies and lures only.

Enterprise Reservoirs (Upper and Lower) - Contain rainbow trout. Elevation 5,700 feet. West from Enterprise 8 miles, then south 5 miles to lower reservoir. Forest Service campground nearby, boat ramp, restrooms. Tributaries to both reservoirs closed through the winter and spring.

Escalante River - Contains rainbow and brown trout in upper reaches. Gets warm as it flows into the Escalante Canyons and contains catfish and suckers. Some trout near mouths of tributary streams.

Fairview Lakes - Contain rainbow trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow. Private land but open to public. Boat ramp but no camping. Please respect the private land. Fishing from boats with motors is unlawful.

Farmington City Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout. Access off of Main Street in north Farmington. Heavy use. Stocked almost every week all summer long. Trout limit 4.

Ferron Reservoir - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. Elevation is 10,500 feet. Twenty-two miles west of Ferron or 19 miles east of Mayfield on Forest Service road. Cabins, Forest Service campgrounds, picnic areas, boats. Tributaries closed during winter.

Ferron Creek - Contains rainbow, brook and brown trout in upper reaches. Camping nearby. Closed above reservoir through early summer.

Fish Creek - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. Closed winter months.

Fish Lake - Contains lake trout (mackinaw), cutthroat, rainbow, brown and brook trout and splake. Elevation is 8,700 feet. U.S. 89 to Sigurd then follow U-24 south to U-25 northeast. Lodges, cafes, cabins, Forest Service campgrounds, picnic areas, boats. Lake trout go up to 30 pounds and a few splake are over 20 inches. Fun ice fishing for splake and rainbows. Check the special regulations for lake trout.

Flaming Gorge Reservoir - Rainbow, brown and lake (mackinaw) trout; smallmouth bass; kokanee salmon; catfish. Elevation 6,200 feet. From Vernal north on U-44 and U.S. 191, or from Manila east on U-43 or south on U-44. Lodges, cabins, motels, trailer courts, Forest Service campgrounds, picnic areas, marinas, boats. Popular ice fishing area for lake trout. Record lake trout taken from this water. Check the special regulations.

Forsyth Reservoir - Rainbow and various hybrid trout. Just up the road from Mill Meadow Reservoir.

Fremont River - Rainbow and brown trout. Generally good fishing but lots of private land.

Gooseberry Reservoir - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. Elevation is 8,700 feet. Twelve miles northeast of Fairview and northeast of Huntington along U-31. Forest Service campgrounds, water, pit toilets.

Grantsville Reservoir - Contains rainbow, brown trout. Access south of Grantsville on South Willow Creek. Fishing from boats with internal combustion motors is unlawful.

Green River - Contains rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout downstream from Flaming Gorge Dam to the Colorado border. Special regulations on the upper section. From Dinosaur National Monument downstream the river principally contains channel catfish and carp. It is accessible at several points (Jensen, Ouray, Green River, Canyonlands National Park). Various facilities are available. There are some big catfish in this stretch of the river but few people fish for them. The river is closed to the taking of nongame fish, except that carp may be taken by angling, archery or spearfishing equipment. Northern pike have found their way into the river and are sometimes caught near the mouth of Ashley Creek.

Gunlock Reservoir - Contains largemouth bass, crappie and catfish. Elevation is 3,600 feet. Located northwest of St. George, 16 miles off Highway 56. Follow Santa Clara River north from Shivwits. Primitive campgrounds, boat ramp. Contains lots of crayfish and some big bass.

Gunnison Bend Reservoir - Contains catfish, carp, bass, yellow perch, bluegill and a few walleye. Irrigation reservoir that is subject to draw-down. Fishing success will depend on water level.

Gunnison Reservoir - Contains largemouth bass, yellow perch, catfish and bluegill. Access north of Gunnison on Hwy 89.

Henry's Fork - Contains rainbow, brook and brown trout. Access out of Wyoming on the north slope of the Uinta Mountains.

Hobble Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Stocked with catchable rainbow. Walleye are found near the mouth and walleye run up the stream to spawn. Excellent small stream with good camping.

Holmes Creek Reservoir - Contains bass, bluegill, walleye and crappie. Access off of Gentile Road in Layton. Private property. No boats or float tubes, no swimming, no camping.

Huntington Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Camping in area. Has high runoff in spring. No access problems. From Flood and Engineer Canyons upstream to Electric Lake Dam, special regulations.

Huntington North Reservoir - (Huntington Lake State Park) Contains largemouth bass; bluegill. Elevation 5,800 feet. State park and modern campground. Lots of crayfish. Can be fast fishing.

Huntington Reservoir - Cutthroat and tiger trout. All cutthroat must immediately be released.

Hyrum Reservoir - Contains rainbows, perch, bluegill and bass. Elevation is 4,700 feet. Located beside the highway west of Hyrum. State park, modern restrooms, boat launching and docking facilities, camping. Minimum bass size 15 inches.

Ivins Reservoir - Contains largemouth bass and catfish.

Joes Valley Reservoir - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout; splake. Elevation is 7,100 feet. Eighteen miles northwest of Orangeville on U-29. Forest Service campgrounds, boat ramp, marina, boat rental, concessions. Rainbow trout are abundant in the 12-15 inch range. Special regulations on splake size and numbers.

Johnson Valley Reservoir - Contains rainbow and cutthroat trout. Elevation is 8,750 feet. Located about three miles northeast of Fish Lake off of Highway 25. Forest Service campground, boat ramp.

Jones Hole Creek - Contains rainbow and brown trout. Some camping in area. Special regulations.

Jordan River - Brown, rainbow trout; channel catfish; sunfish; white and largemouth bass; walleye; carp; suckers. Flows from Utah Lake to the Great Salt Lake through the heart of Utah's urban areas in Utah and Salt Lake counties. Most of the trout are planted in the early spring and are caught shortly after they are planted. A few manage to live through the summer and get big. Several trout in the 3 to 4 pound range are caught in the river each year. The bass and walleye fishing can be fast at times and the catfish make a fine alternative if the bass fishing is slow.

Jordanelle Reservoir - Contains rainbow, brown trout, smallmouth bass. Modern campgrounds, store, boat ramps, running water.

Kanab Creek - Contains no large population of sports fish. Water level varies too much to support many fish.

Kaysville Ponds - Contains bass, bluegill, catfish, rainbow trout. Stocked throughout the summer with trout. Bass fishing can be fast. Access in Kaysville right off of I-15. Too small for boats. Float tubing for bass might be fun. Trout limit 4.

Ken's Lake - Contains rainbow trout. No boat ramps. No camping. No boats with motors.

Kents Lake - Contains rainbow, brook and brown trout; splake. Take U-153 15 miles east of Beaver. Turn at the Kents Lake Road. Camping nearby.

Kolob Reservoir - Contains rainbow, cutthroat and brook trout. Private land around the reservoir. About 18 miles north of Virgin, on the edge of Zion National Park. Several campgrounds near by. No facilities are available at the reservoir. Artificial flies and lures only. Only 2 trout over 18 inches. Kolob Creek, upstream from Kolob Reservoir is closed January 1 through 6 a.m. on the second Saturday of July.

Koosharem Reservoir - Contains rainbow trout. Elevation is 7,000 feet. Take Highway 89 past Salina to U-24. Follow U-24 to the reservoir if you are coming from the north. Take Highway 89 to Junction, east and north on U-62 to U-24 to the reservoir if you are coming from the south. No facilities, primitive camping. A few rainbow get up to 3 pounds.
