Renovations At Deer Creek Reversvoir

Heber -- Paul Dixon, park manager of Deer Creek Reservoir State Park, reports phase two of renovation and construction is underway at the very popular recreation destination. The project is a joint effort between Utah State Parks and Recreation and the Bureau of Reclamation.

Phase two includes renovation of Rainbow Bay, snow's Marina, and the main state park campground. Rainbow Bay day-use facilities will include a new entrance station, group pavilion, modern rest rooms, vault toilets, covered tables, two docks, and pull-through sites.

Renovation at what was the Snow's Marina area includes development of an overnight group camping area with three group pavilions, modern rest rooms, covered picnic tables, and a boat dock. Also a new water system will provide service to Rainbow Bay and Snow's Marina.

The main park will include a new 50-unit campground with modern restrooms and showers. Each site will have a covered picnic table, barbeque grill and firepit. Some sites will also include full utility hookups. Other renovation plans include improvements to the boat launch ramp.

Weather has caused some delays of phase one, which includes renovation of Sailboat Beach, Island Beach and construction of new offices at the main park.

Deer Creek is one of many projects that will benefit from the partnership between Utah state Parks and Recreation and the Bureau of Reclamation. Funding for these projects is provided by both agencies, with the Bureau also offering design and construction management services.
