Action was slow, overall. I launched about 5 pm and fished until about 8:30, and caught one really nice tiger trout plus a smaller tiger. Had a few other bites but no other hookups.
The big tiger is pictured. It measured 20 inches long but fought like it was bigger. It was very fat and heavy.
The water temp was a surprisingly warm 58 F, perhaps because the off-colored water absorbs heat.
The lake was full and the water was stained – a little coffee colored. It held a lot of floating debris. You could see snow in shady areas around the lake. The boat ramp was open and it was easy to launch. There is no dock. There is a forest toilet in a large meadow where people like to camp. There is no fee to launch or camp.
The Electric Lake area is very beautiful. At 8570 feet above sea level, it is always cool and inviting, even on the hottest summer day.
I was a bear sniffing around my truck as I approached the dock just after sunset. That was a thrill. I saw many mule deer on the hillsides above the lake. On the drive home, I had to be extra careful because many deer were right along the highway.
Overall, it was a fun trip even with slower-than-expected fishing.
