Description
Mantua is a small reservoir off Hwy 89, in Box Elder Canyon east of Brigham City. It is a popular fishery because it offers big largemouth bass. It is also usually good for bluegill, rainbow trout and perch.

Special Regulations
Dead yellow perch may be used as bait. Limit 2 trout, 50 yellow perch, 6 bass (only one bass may be over 12 inches).

Location
From Brigham City, follow Hwy 89 for about 4.6 miles east into the canyon. Drive into the town of Mantua and look for the reservoir on its eastern edge.

Seasonal Factors
Largemouth start to bite in mid or late May and that action usually holds through the fall. Rainbows, perch and bluegill are often caught year-round. Mantua usually offers good ice fishing.

Lures and Techniques
Spinnerbaits and crankbaits are popular for the bass. Largemouth stay in or near cover and so lures that run weedless are preferred. Small tube jigs are often effective for all species in the reservoir. Jigs or ice lures tipped with bait are popular when ice fishing.

This reservoir is small and sheltered from the wind and so it is a good choice for float tubers and people who want to fish from a canoe or other small boat.
