Fall colors are now peaking in our high country. Mountains are ablaze with color and canyon areas are coming on strong. I hope you have a chance to get out and see them.
I drove through Swan Valley (ID), mostly because I wanted to photograph the waterfall in my first photo, and continued east to Hoback and Granite Creek (WY). That route had impressive views.
The annual extravaganza of color and light begins at the highest elevations and progresses down the slopes and canyons. Colors had peaked on the high mountain passes on my route, but were still impressive. The canyons were coming on strong. It will still be a couple weeks before we see much color in valley locations.
Colors continue into late November in the low elevation Utah deserts (including Zion Canyon).
