Indian Creek runs from the Abajo Mountains, past Newspaper Rock and into Canyonlands National Park before meeting the Colorado River. The stream is small but provides a corridor of green in this desert area. It is important for wildlife and attracted per-historic Native Americans.

A fun little waterfall is found where the Lock Hart Basin Road crosses the stream. There is a deep plunge pool under the waterfall. If you are in the area, the waterfall can provide a refreshing play area.

We visited Memorial Day weekend, 2020, and it was crowded. The water was muddy but warm and people enjoyed wading, splashing, swimming and cliff jumping. The water warms as the heat of summer sets in. At times, the stream flow is reduced because it is used for irrigation by an upstream ranch.

Many people were camped in primitive sites near the falls.
