Camp Cooking: Dutch Oven Corn BreadBy Joan S. Larsen 1 cup flour Mix flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat eggs and add milk and oil. Pour into dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Pour into a well-oiled 12" Dutch oven and place on a bed of coals. Add coals on lid (oven should bake at 350-400 degrees). Bake for 10 minutes, remove from coals and continue baking with heat from top only for an additional 10-15 minutes or until bread is golden. Copyright Dave Webb, 2005 |
