Description
Joes Valley is one of Utah's best waters for splake. It also offers rainbows, cutthroats and tiger trout. It is a good summer fishery but comes into its own during the winter because ice fishing is often very good. It has a nice boat ramp and campground.

18 mile west from Orangeville, on State Route 29, south of Price
170 miles from Salt Lake City
138 Miles from Provo

Splake, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, tiger trout
Special Regulations
Closed November 1 through 6 am on the second Saturday of December. Limit 4 trout, only 1 trout may be over 18 inches.
Seasonal Factors
Ice fishing is usually very good. Ice is normally safe to fish by Christmas, but when winters are mild the ice may never become safe. April usually brings fishable open water and good spring fishing. Fall is also a good time here.
Lures and Techniques
Utah chubs are the primary forage fish in the lake. Jigs and lures that resemble chubs are effective, along with standard baits. Jigs tipped with a chub tail or other minnow meat can be very effective.
The stream below Joes Valley usually offers good action for browns, rainbows and cutthroat. It is identified by various names including Cottonwood Creek and Straight Canyon.
